| What’s the SPIN here??? Watching our political leaders recently has highlighted the art of SPIN. Put simply this is just “turning around the words” to create a favorable (or unfavorable) bias when presented to the public What do people want to hear People always want to hear the solution to their problem but the problem is always changing. The hottest solutions at present are those that are followed by words such as “in these challenging times” or “for today’s 2009 problems”. A recent Laughteryoga opportunity that I received was because it was directly targeted to “their” problem today and not a general one. It was all in the way I SPUN the words Turning bad news into good news is simple but not easy Let me explain that with an example. Losing weight is simple. You just stop eating. But it’s not easy because you get hungry and want to eat. Talking to people about Laughteryoga is simple because we know how it works for us and the impact that it has on our lives. But getting them to attend a club or one of your presentations is not so easy because it requires some sort of commitment in time or money from then It’s all turning a negative into a positive I find this is best done by framing a question to throw back to them. For example someone might say to me “you can’t possibly laugh for no reason”…I reply “I do so what’s stopping you???” OR “I don’t have time to attend a Laughter Club”…”you couldn’t tie it into doing the shopping or some other day to day duties???” OR “We can’t afford to engage you for a presentation to our organization”…”you don’t have a training budget???” It merely gets them thinking that hey maybe I should do this. Laughter Yoga Events for this month June is the month for a variety of Laughteryoga Events done by none other than the Good Doctor himself. He will be doing a national tour followed by a 5 day Silence Retreat in Melbourne. Don’t forget to visit the website on www.laughteryoga-australia.org to keep abreast of everything that’s happening as well as the registration details for these events - Click here to view the flier. And finally May was the month when we mourned the passing of Milli O’Nair. Milli died as a result of a road accident and the outpouring of grief and loss through emails and phone calls to me was unbelievable. The one that really stood out for me though was someone who left a sign at the scene of her accident that said “fly free Milli”. Very appropriate for a Fairy don’t you think.
