A Laughter Yoga Travelogue Of India
We recently concluded our second trip to India with a group of 11 participants. For almost a month, a group of Polish Laughter Yoga leaders and fans travelled around South India from Bangalore to Mysore, Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu and Goa.
The idea of the trip is very simple: thanks to daily sessions of Laughter Yoga we nurture our inner spirit and meet all the challenges with laughter. This, in fact, is a great approach to travelling in India because laughter does not allow you to get stressed on things like power failure or extraordinary long waiting for meals to come. Our answer is ho ho ha ha ha for all these issues, which invariably stress out most people.
We also learn the value of trust thanks to Laughter Yoga. For example, one can really lose their patience amidst the crazy Indian traffic, confused driving and bad road conditions. This is where laughter comes in handy! Just laugh all by yourself and do some Silent Laughter which will enable you to cope with these free floating irritants and help you keep a positive mental state. You will learn to trust your drivers on the road as they are doing their best. As for the rest – just leave it to the Supreme Being and chant ho ho ha ha ha!
These Laughter Yoga trips also aim at promoting the concept and making people aware of the enormous benefits of laughing. Our laughter sessions are open to everybody and are free of charge. During a week-long stay in Arambol, Goa, each day we led a session at the beach just before sunset and often other travellers and locals joined us in our rejoicing – We enjoyed the session with these participants from different countries shouting, “Very good, very good, yeah” in English, Hindi, Polish, Russian, Norwegian, Spanish, Japanese and Hebrew.
In Tiruvannamalai we led daily open sessions at a roof top of a hotel with a scenic view of the sacred mountain of South India venerated by the Hindus as an earthy body of Lord Shiva. The ashram of Ramana Maharishi, a great spiritual teacher of non-duality from India attracts many people from all over the world and some of them, thanks to us, discovered that Laughter Yoga might be a nice break in their meditative silence and can be a better preparation to experience perfect bliss of silence.
We want to keep on with our travels to India and hope to organise the next one in the beginning of 2016. It is great blessing for me so I can keep coming back to India and share the joy and peace that I have attained here with others. I am grateful to Dr. Kataria for teaching me Laughter Yoga few years ago in Bangalore. It has completely changed my life and has helped me to recover completely from the grief of losing my father. It also gave me the initiative to start a silent laughter revolution in Poland, training more than 150 leaders, founding around 10 Laughter Clubs and spreading the message of love and laughter to all.
